Marina O’Connor

Originally from Dublin, I am now happily settled in Drogheda after spending 38 years in the Netherlands. My journey in fashion began at The Grafton Academy of Dress Design, where I studied from 1980 to 1983. Following graduation, I worked for a year with wedding dress designer Pat Crowley before emigrating to the Netherlands in 1985, inspired by my college friend Cynthia.

For the last 12 years in Amsterdam, I ran my own business specializing in alterations and dress design, working with high-end fashion labels such as Dior, Prada, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. With over 35 years of sewing experience, I’m delighted to be back in Ireland, following a lifelong dream to start this venture with Cynthia.

Cynthia Ruxton

Born in Dublin and now residing in Kells, Co. Meath, I graduated from The Grafton Academy of Dress Design in 1983. My career has taken me across Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands, working both as an employee and self-employed designer. In 2003, I moved to Kerry and earned a business degree from the Institute of Technology in Tralee, before establishing my own business, Sew Unique, specializing in design, dressmaking, crafts, and workshops for both adults and children.

In addition to my business, I facilitated creative workshops for students at Coláiste na Sceilge secondary school. Now, I’m excited to join Marina in launching MC StitchCraft, bringing our shared expertise and passion to life.
